The term “Forgotten Bombardment” was used in 1978, 25 years after the fact, to draw attention to the importance of commemorating the 1943 Allied bombing of Bospolder and Tussendijken.
Since then, extensive attention has been given to the stories of the local residents, there has been an annual commemoration, and a monument was erected. “The Forgotten Bombardment” is no longer forgotten. However, the reconstruction of this area has received little to no attention to this day. Therefore, we can also speak of the “Forgotten Reconstruction.“
